In 2017, BPA was hired to assist the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to transform their aging Carrick neighborhood branch into a high-performance, Passive House Institute certified library. BPA worked with the project team, from the design phase through the completion of construction. BPA conducted a design review of all construction details, then monitored the construction process on-site. BPA conducted a wide variety of tests to not only confirm that the building envelope was well-insulated and airtight, but also that the HVAC systems operated properly and created a quiet, comfortable indoor environment. The Carrick Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh was the first PHI-certified library in the U.S.
